Cabochon Stone Setting
1 Day Workshop
 
A short course covering basic bezel stone setting techniques. Suitable for those new to stone setting and jewellery making or for those with more experience looking for a reminder on basic skills. During the session you will be taught how to make a bezel setting to set a Cabochon gemstone. Students will be guided in the appropriate mounts and fixings to turn their setting in to a finished piece of jewellery. More experienced students will be encouraged to create a design that uses a more experimental or creative approach to setting and could think about incorporating usual shapes or cuts of stone*. 
 
The workshop includes materials, silver and gemstones. *You are welcome to bring your own stones, but please discuss this with the tutor before the course to make sure the stones will be suitable for the projects. *
 
Classes are friendly and relaxed, as well as giving you lots of individual help and support from the tutor and good access to tools and equipment.
 
What will I need to bring?
With classes being in a professional workshop environment, things can get a little bit messy so we suggest that you bring an apron, wear old clothes and closed toe shoes. If you have long hair - bring a hairband! It might also help to bring a notebook, pen/pencils and a container or small tool box to keep your work in.

Due to the nature of workshop, we cannot permit any one under the age of 16 to take part in the classes unless assessed and agreed in advance by the tutor.
